Spring Program FAQs

Why do we need to register at both and Reading Recreation?
The two organizations are working cooperatively to make this season happen and both are incurring expenses. There are State laws and Town by-laws that limit the amount of money a non-profit (RUSC) and town government division (Rec) can exchange, so the registration fees must be split between RUSC and Rec. The total cost for all players is $25 less than the cost during a non-COVID season.

Why are all the age groups In Town only?

We believe the plan we've arrived at will meet our aims to satisfy the following objectives:

  • meets all safety requirements set forth by the State and Mass Youth Soccer
  • provides technical training and competitive games for our players
  • is flexible in light of potential loosening or tightening of restrictions
  • returns some degree of normalcy to our players
  • delivers value on your financial commitment to the program
  • adds a competitive season for the players

What uniforms will the players be wearing?
RUSC will be providing uniforms for all players. Every player will receive both a red & a black jersey, which will designate the home and away team for each match,

Is the In Town program safe?
We are adhering to all Mass Youth Soccer, Commonwealth of Massachusetts and Town of Reading guideline to ensure the safest conditions for our players and coaches. Nothing can be guaranteed to be 100% safe but we're confident that by following the guidelines set forth it the conditions are as safe as possible. This model was very successful in the Fall 2020 season and we are confident it will be safe and successful this season.

What are the guidelines that RUSC is following?
You can find info on the Return to Play guidelines here.
